First Aid Claims
Some states such as California allow the employer to pay first aid claims which generally is defined to be claims where the employee goes to the assigned health care provider with no medications prescribed and generally no follow up or a follow up that is merely incidental. This could be helpful to the employer to decide to pay first aid claims even if on a selective basis as the frequency of such claims can lead to a severe rise in the experience modification. In other words, the out of pocket payment of the employer for a first aid claim is a money saving technique whose opportunity should not be ignored.
